Ukraine will be able fully to supply gas to Poland in the event of termination or reduction of supplies from Russia. This was announced by Director of the operator of GTS of Ukraine Sergey Makogon on his page on Facebook on Thursday, April 30.

According to him, may 18 end of the transit contract Poland-Russia on the Yamal gas pipeline (33 billion cubic meters). While final arrangements are not yet known, and as of April 27, Gazprom has not fulfilled the arbitration award on revision of prices for gas supplies to Poland.

Therefore, in order to prepare for various possible scenarios, in order of the number of traders was tested in gas supplies from Slovakia to Poland via Ukraine’s GTS as well as supplies from underground storage facilities of Ukraine to Poland.

“These deliveries are confirmed the possibility to provide the necessary resource to Poland in the event of termination/reduction of supply from Russia. Ukraine once again proved that it continues to remain an important element of Europe’s energy security,” said Makogon.

Recall that in March Ukraine had its first ever gas transit to EU countries – Hungary and Slovakia. The customer transporting gas through the Ukrainian GTS was made by the famous German energy trader.
