More than 80% of Russians from the preliminary list did not participate in the Olympic games in Sochi, that is a “new generation” of athletes.

The international Olympic Committee (IOC) reduced the number of Russian athletes, which may allow for the winter Olympics in South Korea’s Pyeongchang, more than 100 people. This was reported on the website of the IOC.

“To date, the original pool pre-registration, consisting of over 500 athletes, was a smaller group of the IOC responsible for inviting the athletes, 111 people”, – stated in the message.

It is noted that any athlete suspended from Olympics by IOC due to the anti-doping rule violation in the list, while many of them expect solutions to the International sports court of appeals in connection with the suspension.

While it is impossible to predict who from the pool will go to the games, a list of pre-qualification goes, a group of IOC will choose from this list of athletes invited to the Olympics later.

In addition, the group recommended that IOC be invited to the Olympics 51 coach and 10 health workers dealing with the suspended athletes.
