The office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine began work on 2 January 2020

June 9 will begin receiving documents from candidates for 100 vacancies in the posts of prosecutors in the attorney General’s Office about this in the press service of the office reported on 5 may.

Procedure selection will be similar to that which took place the participants of the first selection of candidates from the system of the Prosecutor’s office.

The selection will be able to participate persons who:

  • not held the position of Prosecutor until the day of entry into force of the law of Ukraine “On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine on priority measures for the reform of the prosecution” (up to 25 September 2019);
  • are citizens of Ukraine;
  • have higher legal education and work experience in the field of law for at least five years;
  • speak the state language.

The first wave of recruiting people not from the system to the Office of attorney General was held in January 2020, then was announced 200 vacancies.

The attorney General’s office of Ukraine started work on 2 January 2020.

December 26, 2019, the public Prosecutor Ruslan riaboshapka has announced the elimination of 2 January 2020, the GPU and the opening of the Office of the attorney General. He recalled that from 1339 prosecutors after going through all the procedures of the recertification test on the legislation, assessment of abilities, the character test – the GPU was 610 prosecutors, they were asked to go to work in the newly created Department. In General, according to him, from 2,5 thousand workers of the GPU in the new office will operate a 1.5 thousand

The Verkhovna Rada on 19 September adopted on second reading and in General bill No. 1032 “On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine concerning priority measures for the reform of the prosecution.” September 24, law No. 113-IX was published in the newspaper “Voice of Ukraine” and the 25th came into force, except for certain provisions that enter into play, in particular, after the creation of the office of the attorney General.

The new office will be the office of the Prosecutor General, regional and district Prosecutor’s office (now regional and local) as well as Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office. In the regional and district Prosecutor’s offices are also specialized prosecution. Provided that the prosecutors, who on the day of entry into force of the law will serve for the GPU, regional, local and military Prosecutor’s offices, may be transferred to the post of Prosecutor in the attorney General’s Office, regional and district Prosecutor’s offices only in case of successful passing of certification.
