The Cabinet of Ministers of Latvia approved the gradual transfer to study in schools only in the Latvian language

The government of Latvia approved amendments to the law on education, which assume a gradual transition of educational institutions of national minorities to the Latvian language. About it reports Delfi.

As writes the edition, the reform should start in September 2017 and be completed in 2021-2022 year.

It is planned that in 2020, the Latvian language will be to learn 80% of seventh grade students in 2022 and training in the state language will be implemented in all classrooms.

At the same time, the mayor of Riga nil Ushakov called big mistake the decision to transition to teaching only in Latvian.
