The flaw was found in the tools for data synchronization in mobile and web version of the service. Due to this, hackers can use several methods of manipulation with the correspondence of users.
So, they can change the name of the sender to any other using the function “Quote”. This is possible even if this person is not a member of the group.
Also, attackers can edit in the reply message the text of the interlocutor.
The developers of WhatsApp have already acknowledged the problem and are working on a fix.
