Chapter Ukrenergo said that the new energy balance will help to solve problems in the energy sector.

The acting head of the Ministry of energy Vladimir Kudrytska said there are three main causes of the crisis in the energy market. He stated this at a briefing on may 14.

According to officials, the situation was affected by the fall in electricity consumption, an imperfect model of the energy market and blend large growth of “green” generation with a sharp decline in the reserves of hydroelectric power plants.

“(The cause of the crisis) is a reduction in the consumption of electricity in the country, the second imperfect market model, I mean the mechanism of PSO and other regulatory acts at the level of the Cabinet, and controller. The third blend large growth of generation from renewable sources, combined with the rapid fall quick of reserves of hydropower plants”, – said the Kudrytska.

He noted that previously, with hydropower Ukrenergo cover all the peaks and troughs of electricity production, but this year there is the least water content for all 140 years of observations.

“This means that we have less fast reserves for balancing the power system. And, of course, to balance the dropped part of the reserves of hydropower are replaced by thermal power plants”, – said the head of Department.

The kudrytska believes that the reduction of production in nuclear power plants is a technical and not a political decision. He stated that the cuts calculated by the controllers Ukrenergo and take into account the difference of production and consumption of electricity between night minimum and an evening maximum.

Recall that in late April, the energy Ministry has revised the forecast balance of electricity in 2020 due to energy crisis in the country. The new approach provides for the reduction of production at all power plants of Ukraine, except for combined heat and power and renewable sources of energy.

At the meeting on 12 may, the parliamentary Committee on energy and utilities supported antikrizisnyi plan in the energy sector.
