Poroshenko: Our future is in Europe, and only

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said in Vinnytsia on may 19 that he had signed a decree on the withdrawal of Ukrainian representatives from all the statutory bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the correspondent “GORDON”.

“Today has signed the decree about the withdrawal of all Ukrainian representatives from all the statutory bodies of the CIS”, – said the head of state.

He added that the Ukrainians see the CIS “irrevocably gone”.

“Our future is in Europe and only,” continued the head of state.

Poroshenko congratulated the citizens and all Ukrainians on the Day of Europe is celebrated on may 19.

The CIS was founded on 8 December 1991. The corresponding agreement was signed by representatives of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The document stated that the USSR ceases to exist as a “subject of international law and a geopolitical reality”. Ukraine has not signed the CIS Charter of 22 January 1993.

12 April President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko proposed to formalize the country’s participation in the statutory bodies of the CIS.

On may 2, the national security Council and defense of Ukraine supported the proposal on the termination of Ukraine to the coordinating bodies of the Commonwealth of independent States.
