The French leader pointed out that Europeans cannot be defended without a European army. “This is necessary in the face of Russia, which is on our borders and that can act threateningly,” added the macron. According to him, Europe should be able to defend themselves, not depending on US.

October 20, trump said Washington’s intention to withdraw from the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty). The Kremlin said that concerned about the US decision.

Later had a phone conversation with trump and Macron, during which the French leader pointed to the importance of the document for Europe. The Minister of defence of Russia Sergey Shoigu said that Europe must understand the implications of U.S. withdrawal from the INF Treaty.
