Klimkin: We will consistently push

The last meeting on settling the situation in Donbas of special envoy of the US state Department in Ukraine with Kurt Volker, an adviser to the Russian President Vladislav Surkov were unsuccessful.

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said in Kiev today on the broadcast in Facebook Ministry joint press conference with Minister of foreign Affairs of Italy Angelino Alfano.

“Unfortunately, during the meeting there has been no result, but we will consistently press with the aim of implementation of the logic of the road map (of the Minsk agreements.– “GORDON”), and I hope that recent events, including on the American side, too, so to speak, will help Moscow to see that its proposal for body guards for the SMM (security for special monitoring of the OSCE mission. – “GORDON”) have no meaning, and you need a real peacekeeping mission”, – said the Ukrainian Minister.

According to Klimkin, the OSCE mission in Donbass it is necessary to give “to work quietly and not interfere.”

“And you need to give the peacekeepers, but the real peacekeepers to take control of the situation in the occupied territories,” he said.

26 Jan Walker was found in Dubai with an Advisor of the RF President Vladislav Surkov. The source of “Interfax” reported that the parties have not reached a unified position on the law on the reintegration of Donbass. On 27 January, ITAR-TASS interview, Surkov said that the new proposals of the American side on deployment of the UN mission in the Donbas – “Dubai package” are implemented.

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that the meeting between Walker and Surkov should not expect any results. Volcker also believed that at this meeting agreement was reached.

Walker and Surkov met on August 21 2017 in Minsk, 7 October and 13 November in Belgrade.
