Canadian researchers from the University of British Columbia found that women are quicker to gain extra pounds if they have few social connections and they are alone. But in men the opposite is true, writes PLOS One.
Experts analyzed social contacts 28 238 people and their relationship with body weight, waist circumference and General obesity.
It turned out that not having a partner women who live alone and do not communicate much with others, on average the largest waist size.
In men, the researchers found the opposite relationship, that is married with a large number of contacts, more prone to excess weight than single.
