The head of the plant operator considers justified, the restriction of nuclear generation due to the fall in electricity consumption in conditions of quarantine.

The decision Minenergo to limit nuclear power generation is justified in terms of falling consumption, said Biznestsentr acting head of Energoatom Peter Kotin.

According to him, the period of quarantine, it was decided to reserve a number of units with a total capacity of 50 million kWh daily.

“Operator gives us a specific number that requires us to stop a number of our units. We can act differently, unloaded all the units, but in such a deep state of discharge, their work will be ineffective. Stop multiple units will allow you to work the rest of the power levels close to nominal,” – said Kotin.

He also supported anti-crisis actions of the Ministry of energy, noting that energy should not develop “just because I want to do it.

“In my opinion, the anti-crisis measures taken by the Cabinet and the Ministry of energy, including the achievement of physical (the revision of the balance) and economic-financial stabilization of the energy market is now justified”, – said the head of “Energoatom”.

He recalled that the energy owed the company $ 16 billion hryvnia. “And in such circumstances should continue to fully Fund our production program”, – concluded Kotin.

Note, according to Ukrenergo, the production of electricity in April in annual terms fell by 9.82% to 11 169 million kWh.
