As one of the interlocutors of the newspaper, the Russian leader Vladimir Putin after the second round of presidential elections in Ukraine, scheduled for Sunday, April 21, will sign the corresponding decree. Another source also reported that the issue is entirely worked out, and it remains only to put the signature under the document, which will endow the inhabitants of the DNI and LC for such a right.

The head of the Duma Committee on CIS Affairs Leonid Kalashnikov pointed to the fact that the decree can be signed immediately after the election, unless there is a need to observe how the new President of Ukraine, if it appears, will take any steps to resolve the situation in the South-East of the Republic. In addition, Kalashnikov recalled that earlier, a law was passed that gave the President the right to determine the categories of foreign nationals who can obtain a Russian passport under the simplified scheme. The relevant amendments, the lower house of the Russian Parliament has made to the Federal law “On citizenship of the Russian Federation”.

In turn, RBC with reference to its sources writes that, according to the plan, residents of Donbas will be able to receive passports of the Russian Federation without the required examinations and the requirement to stay in the country for more than five years. It is envisaged that the principal terms of the change of nationality are certificates of the LC and the DNI and delivery of passports Ukraine.

In December last year it was reported that the residents of Donbas were allowed to remain on the territory of the Russian Федерации180 days instead of 90. According to the Federal law №115 “On legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation”, the period of continuous stay in the country with the date of each entry is increased.
