Japan from 1 January 2018 should simplify visa requirements for short stays of Ukrainian citizens in this country. Of the relevant decision was reported in the press service of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine.

The decision was taken following the visit of Minister of foreign Affairs of Japan, Nakano Kazuyuki in Kyiv on 9 November 2017.

“The range of applicants entitled to multiple-entry short-stay visa for business purposes and also for cultural and scientific figures will be expanded. Also the validity of the visas will be increased from three to five years maximum. In addition to the existing single-entry visas will be introduced multiple-entry visas (with a validity of three years and maximum period of stay of 30 days) for a short stay for various purposes including tourism. In the case of self-pay visits to the applicant will not need to provide documents from a guarantor”, – stated in the message.

The Embassy of Japan said that they expect an increase in the number of Ukrainians who re-visit Japan, and “further strengthening of interpersonal contacts”.

In June 2017 the people’s Deputy from “popular front” Leonid Yemets on the outcome of the diplomatic visit of the Ukrainian parliamentary group in Japan said that Tokyo “has started to work on the abolition of visas for Ukrainians”.
