Kosovo has fulfilled all criteria required for visa liberalization with the EU. This was announced by the European Commissioner for migration and home Affairs Dimitris Avramopoulos, reports Prishtina Insight.
“Today we can confirm that Kosovo has passed all stages of the road map on visa liberalization. It was not easy, we know this, therefore we must commend the President and his government for what they have done in recent months,” said Avramopoulos.
Avramopoulos praised Kosovo for the commitment to the fight against organized crime and corruption. This was the last outstanding criteria after Kosovo in March ratified an agreement on border demarcation with Montenegro.
According to him, now the next step is for the European Parliament and the EU Council, which must approve the Commission’s proposal from 2016, and I encourage them to do it quickly.
Earlier it was reported that the situation in Kosovo is heating up again: the Serbs declared autonomy.
