The trade turnover of agricultural products between Ukraine and the EU increased

For three years the largest trading partners among EU countries are the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Germany and Spain.

For the first nine months of 2018 Ukrainian agricultural exports to the EU countries exceeded $4.1 billion. this was announced by Deputy Minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine on European integration Olga Trofimova, informs a press-service of the Ministry of agrarian policy and food.

It is noted that in January-September this year the foreign trade turnover of agricultural and food products between Ukraine and EU countries is of 6.07 billion dollars and increased by 5.4% compared to the same period last year. Ukrainian exports is 4,12 billion and imports $ 1.9 billion.

According to Trofimovoj positive dynamics of development of bilateral trade is observed for the third consecutive year.

“The free trade zone works for both our producers and for the European. For example, in 9 months of 2016, the Ukrainian agricultural and food exports to EU markets amounted to nearly $ 2.9 billion, but in the same period of 2017 – is already $ 4.2 billion. Despite the decline in growth of the Ukrainian agricultural and food exports to the EU market this year, we are confident that a further reduction of trade barriers between Ukraine and the EU will have a positive effect for both sides and more and more Ukrainian exporters will enter the EU markets with their products”, – the press service quoted Trafimava.

The Deputy Minister noted that key commodity groups, the export of which is markedly increased compared to 2017, steel, rape seeds, wheat, nuts and confectionery products, poultry, rye, chocolate and products from it.

Trafimava added that for the first nine months of 2018, the total import value amounted to $ 1.9 billion. The most active in the EU, Ukraine has purchased tobacco and its products, products for feeding animals, chocolate and products made from cocoa beans, meat, oilseeds, alcoholic beverages and other products.

The Deputy Minister added that for three consecutive years the largest trading partners among EU countries are the Netherlands, Poland, Italy, Germany and Spain.

Recall, Ukraine as of November 7, exported 14,122 million tons of grain.

It was also reported that exports of agricultural products from Ukraine in January-September amounted to $12.9 billion.
