At the end of December Ukraine has reduced steel production by 17.2% compared to the same period of 2018 to 1,561 million But this result was enough to rise at once on three positions – 12 in the ranking of 64 countries. This was announced by the global Association of steel producers on Monday 27 January.
It is noted that in December, it registered a decline of steel production in almost all top ten countries except China, Turkey and Iran.
The top ten countries producing steel at the end of December as follows: China (84,265 million tons, an increase of 11.6%), India (9,281 million tons, -0.8%), Japan (7,784 million tons, a drop of 8%), USA (7,457 million tons, a decline of 0.3%), Russia (6 million tonnes, a drop of 3%), South Korea (5,876 million tonnes, a fall of 4.7%), Turkey (2,893 million tons, an increase of 0.2%), Germany (2,850 million tonnes, a drop of 11.7 per cent), Iran (2,895 million tons, an increase of 40%) and Brazil (2,416 million tons, falling by 10.8%).
This is followed by Taiwan (China, 1,740 million tons, a drop of 14.6%), Ukraine (1,561 million tonnes, a drop of 17.2 per cent), Vietnam (1,531 million tons, an increase of 18.4%), Mexico (1,495 million tons, a drop of 7.3%) and Italy (1,413 million tons, a drop of 17.2%).
Overall in December 2019 64 countries produced 152,121 million tonnes of steel, which is 4% higher than in December 2018.
In General, for 2019 in the first ten included: China (996,342 million tons, an increase of 8.3% compared to the previous year), India (111,246 million tons, an increase of 1.8%), Japan (99,284 million tons, falling by 4.8%), USA (87,927. million tons, an increase of 1.5%), Russia (71,570 million tons, -0.8%), South Korea (71,421 million tons, a drop of 1.4 percent), Germany (39,675 million tons, a drop of 6.5%), Turkey (33,743 million tons, a drop of 9.6%), Brazil (32,236 million tons, a drop of 9%) and Iran (31.9 million tons, an increase of 30.1%).
On 11-th place – Italy (23,245 million tons, falling by 5.2%), 12-m – Taiwan (China, 22,065 million tons, down 5.1%) on 13-m – Ukraine (20,848 million tonnes, falling by 1.2%), Vietnam (20,066 million tons, an increase of 43.2%) and Mexico (18,595 million tons, a drop of 8%).
For 2019 64 countries have made 1 billion 848,548 million tonnes of steel by 3.5% over the previous year.
We will remind, in November, Ukraine reduced steel production by 20.1% to 1,325 million tons and has fallen to 15th place in world ranking.
It was also reported that the production volumes of Ukrainian metallurgy has sharply decreased and established the worst performance since independence of Ukraine.
