Ukrainian fans had to be nervous, but surely passed on.
The second racket of the Ukraine’s Lesya Tsurenko in the second round of the Australian Open, beaten in the opening match of the tournament in two sets, the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova 6:4, 7:6(4).
The match lasted an hour and a half. In each of the two sets, Tsurenko confidently started (4:0, 5:1 – in the first 4:0 in the second), but then slowed down.
In the first set of inventory still enough to win in the second Les with the score 4:0 lost five games in a row, but still translated a game on a tie-break, where Alexandrov made a few unforced errors in a row, that determined the outcome of the match.
In fact, serious conclusions on this match to do. Les went out today to play in the economy mode, played more from the defense deep in the center of the court, rarely conducting offensive strikes, but that was enough.
In the second round the Ukrainian will play against the winner of a pair of Monica Niculescu (Romania) Amanda Anisimova (USA).
I should add that Tsurenko already defended your points from last year’s tournament and each victory will be a plus. Personal record Tsurenko in the tournament – third round (2013).
