79-year-old al Pacino played in the movie “the Hunters” starring role

The state Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau published on the personal Twitter page a statement which criticized the script of the American TV series “the Hunters”, in which the main role was played by 79-year-old actor al Pacino.

The release of the series says that the story is based on real events taking place in new York in 1977. The characters of the series – the hunters in the Nazi officers need to prevent the creation in USA of the Third Reich.

The Museum called the show “dangerous nonsense and a caricature” of the events that are documented through the testimonies of survivors in concentration camps.

“Auschwitz was full of terrible pain and suffering, recorded in the reports of survivors. We honor the victims, while maintaining factual accuracy”, – stated in the message.

Representatives of the Museum, replying to user comments, said that the writers of the film have not turned to him for advice to maintain the accuracy of historical events.

The Museum emphasized that it allows free interpretation in the case if the fictional events in a fictional place.

“But if you use a real place, respect its history and suffering of his victims,” – said in comments.

The state Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau is located in the Polish town of Oswiecim. It includes three concentration camps. One of the tasks of the Museum is research into the causes of the Holocaust under the Nazi regime.

In 1979, the Museum was included in the world heritage list of UNESCO. Every year the Museum is visited by millions of tourists from around the world.
