Poroshenko signed a decree on sanctions against Russian banks

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on 6 March signed a decree №57/2018, which enacted the decision of the Council of national security and defense of Ukraine from March 1, on the introduction of a year of sanctions against four banks with Russian capital. This was reported by the press service of the President.

“Sanctions prevent withdrawal of capital outside Ukraine in favor of related banks, persons are applied to PJSC “Sberbank”, JSC “joint-stock commercial industrial-investment Bank”, OJSC “VTB Bank” and OJSC “Bmbank,” – said the press service.

The decree entered into force upon its publication.

15 March 2017, the Council instructed the national Bank and the security service to perform the activities of banks, in whose capital there is a share of state banks of Russia. The evening of the same day, the NBU proposed to apply sanctions against five banks.

March 16, 2017, Poroshenko has approved sanctions against the “savings Bank”, “Prominvestbank”, VTB, “Bmbank” and VS Bank for one year.

Before the meeting of the NSDC on 1 March, the President said that in 2017 the presence of banks with Russian capital in Ukraine decreased.
