Police checks, open criminal proceedings

In Odessa, the children of the orphanage complained of beatings from the teachers. About it reported in a press-service of the police of Odessa region.

“In Khmelnytsky police Department received a statement of acceptance of measures to the employees of the regional orphanage for children who commit psychological and physical violence against pupils of this institution. Later, in the course of monitoring the Internet, was discovered a video in which a young child, which, according to him, is a graduate of this institution, says that teachers beat children”, – stated in the message.

Information on this fact brought in the Unified register of pre-trial investigations under part 1 of article 126 (beating and torture) of the Criminal code of Ukraine. In the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings the police will investigate the degree of responsibility each employee of the shelter.

Earlier, the Ombudsman Lyudmila Denisova wrote on his Facebook page that during a monitoring visit to the orphanage in Rozhische (in total there are 33 children from 3 to 18 years) in 10 children had traces of beatings and blood on clothes. In addition, three children claimed sexual harassment by the management of the institution.

Militiamen began criminal proceedings on the fact of physical violence to students by employees of the orphanage (part 1 of article 125 of the Criminal code of Ukraine), as well as on the fact of improper performance of official duties on protection of life and health of minors, resulting in substantial harm (paragraph 1 of article 137 of the Criminal code of Ukraine).
