Greta Gerwig became the first in five years, a female Director, received a nomination for “Oscar”. Along with Greta, marked by the Academy for his work on the painting “Lady bird”, for the movie awards will fight Guillermo del Toro (“water”), Paul Thomas Anderson (“Ghost thread”), Christopher Nolan (“Dunkirk”) and Jordan Peele (“Off”).
For the award in the category “Best film” will compete with 9 paintings.
In “Lady bird” tells the story of high school student Christina MacPherson, who is trying to escape from a small town in new York, with the support of adoptive older brother.
Greta Gerwig also became the fifth female Director trapped in the shortlist, for the entire history of the Oscars. First for best Director nominated were Lina wertmuller, the first and only woman to receive the Oscar in this category was Kathryn Bigelow. She has received prestigious awards for the film “the hurt locker” in 2010.
