For the year Ukraine dropped two positions in the list of the most miserable countries in the world, but is still among the top 10 most economically poor countries in the world.

In the current year Ukraine finished in seventh place in the rating of “poor countries”, which is calculated on the basis of indicators of inflation and unemployment. Such data on Thursday, February 15 published by Bloomberg.

As noted, the index is calculated by Bloomberg based on the forecasts for inflation and unemployment for 66 countries.

In the ranking of the 2018 indicators of Ukraine has improved. If last year Ukraine took the fifth place in the list of most miserable countries index “23,8”, this year its index rose to “17,8”, which allowed to take the seventh place.

Venezuela holds the first place in the index for the fourth year in a row, its score has increased more than threefold compared with the 2017 year.

Thailand again received the status of “least miserable” economy, however, given the unusual methodology for calculating unemployment in this country, second-ranked Singapore is also noteworthy.

Price growth this year will represent a more serious threat to the global economy than unemployment, according to the survey.

The misery index is based on the ancient concept that low inflation and unemployment are indicators of economic well-being of people in the countries under study.

However, low levels of these indicators can be misleading. For example, persistently low prices could be a sign of weak demand, too low unemployment can complicate conditions for a new, better job.

The calculations show an overall favorable global economic prospects: according to the median forecast surveyed by Bloomberg economists, the global economy in 2018 will grow by 3.7 percent, keeping the pace of last year, became the best in 2011.

We will remind, in Ministry of economic development reported that the economy grew by 2.2%.

Recall that in the fourth quarter of 2017, the growth in real gross domestic product of Ukraine in comparison with similar quarter of 2016 1.8% compared with 2.1% in the third.
