Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Lenur Temirov was first on the podium of the world championship.
Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Lenur Temirov (weight category up to 63 kg) won a bronze medal at the world wrestling championship held in Budapest.
Temirov started the tournament confident victories over the Aldyn by Nugumanov from Kazakhstan (11:1), Nikolay Ivanov Vichevy from Bulgaria (9:1) and Urmatbek by Letovym from Kyrgyzstan (8:5), but in the semi-final narrowly lost to the bronze medalist at the 2016 Olympics and silver medallist at this world Cup, the Uzbek Elmurat Tashmuradov (3:4).
In the battle for bronze Temirov met with Chinese wrestler Arbatu Tuo and defeated him 3:1 and became the bronze medalist of the world championship.
This is the first Temirova medal at the world Championships and the first medal of Ukraine in Greco-Roman wrestling for this world Cup. But not the last – Jean Beleniuk in the category up to 87 kg made it to the finals and guaranteed himself at least silver.
