In January-March in Ukraine reduced steel production by 3.4% to 5,318 million tons.
In March 2020, Ukrainian steelmakers have reduced steel production by 10.3% to 1,765 million tonnes compared to the same period last year. But it was enough to climb from 13th to 12th place in the list of world manufacturers of this production, said on the eve of the world Association of steel producers.
At the end of March, the leadership in the ranking of world steel producers traditionally have kept China with the increase of 79 million tonnes (a decrease of 1.7% by March 2019). Followed by India (8.7 million tonnes, -13,9%), Japan (8.2 million tonnes, -9,7%), USA (7,222 million tonnes, -6%), Russia (5,850 m t, -4,4%), South Korea (5,776 million tonnes -7,9%), Turkey (3,110 million tonnes, +4.1%) and Germany (2.9 million tons, -20,9%), Brazil (2,635 million tonnes, -8,2%) and Iran (2,250 million tons, +14.1 per cent).
Overall in March 2020, compared to March last year, 64 countries included in the rankings, has reduced steel production by 6% to 147,05 million tons.
In the first quarter of this year, Ukraine has reduced steel production compared to the same period of 2019 3.4% to 5,318 million tons. But it has risen in the rankings from 12th to 11th position.
