Twitter lock associated with attempts to use the social network to artificially raise the interest

American company Twitter Inc. blocked in their social network accounts belonging to the leader of the Communist party of Cuba Raul Castro and his daughter, Mariela and a number of leading the state media of Cuba. On 12 September, reported Reuters.

Lock took place on 11 and 12 September.

On Twitter, the Agency explained that this is due to attempts to use the platform of social networks to artificially raise the interest of users to specific topics.

Reuters notes that a lock has occurred after the President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canela, broadcast on state television to warn residents of the island about an energy crisis because of US sanctions.

The Cuban Union of journalists called the actions of the owner of the social network Twitter “mass censorship” and “an act of cyber warfare”.
