Currently, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky has no restrictions to comply with the constitutional requirements for the protection of the country from the Russian aggression and the liberation of the Crimea. Such opinion in interview “Censor.NO,” stated the former acting President of Ukraine, ex-Secretary of the national security Council and defense of Ukraine, the current chief of staff of the party “European solidarity” Alexander Turchinov.

“Perhaps the current leadership of our country do not know, but after the illegal annexation of Crimea, Russia unilaterally withdrew from the Kharkiv agreements. Now not a single soldier of the Russian army has no right to be on the Crimean land, in the case of the occurrence of Ukrainian troops [Russian President Vladimir] Putin will not be able to commit to any international document. All the troops of the Russian Federation, among them the black sea fleet located in Crimea in violation of all international norms of the Ukrainian Constitution and legislation,” he said.

According to Turchynov, this fact, as well as the combat capability of the Armed forces, a majority in Parliament and “his Cabinet” let Zelensky “to fulfill the constitutional requirement to defend the country from aggression and the liberation of the Crimea”.

“If he decides to come, I’ll be at the forefront of the assault battalion. Hopefully, the storm will go and all the authors claims of opsi (we are talking about cases in which Turchynov accused of passing the Crimea. – “GORDON”), and all the sofa strategists who know in detail how it was necessary to fight and where better to jump”, he concluded.

At the same time Turchynov expressed the opinion that “Ukraine is not yet ready to declare war on Russia for the seizure of our land and to begin a military operation to liberate the Crimea.”

On the night of February 27, 2014 men with guns (as it later turned out, the Russian security forces) seized the building of the Supreme Council and the Council of Ministers of Crimea in Central Simferopol, raising over them the flag of Russia. 16 March in Crimea held an illegal referendum, after which Russia annexed the Peninsula. The annexation of Crimea by Russia is not recognised by Ukraine and most countries of the world. In the moment between mainland Ukraine and the Crimea there is an access control regime, and Kiev de facto controls the Peninsula.

Turchynov, during the occupation of the Peninsula who served as acting President after Viktor Yanukovych fled to Russia, later claimed that in February 2014 he wasn’t informed about the situation in Crimea, as 70% of the Armed forces of Ukraine took the side of Russia.
