Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office stopped the investigation of the “Rotterdam plus” to obtain answers to queries in a foreign jurisdiction that is dated, in particular, 2018 and 2019 year. About this on air of the channel “direct” August 13, said a defense attorney Irina Odintsov.

“The resolution, in particular, pointed out that this case is stopped in connection with the trend in other jurisdictions requests for international legal assistance and due to the fact that SAP expects to complete these requests. The formula “Rotterdam plus” operated to calculate the cost of coal to establish the forecast cost of electricity exclusively for industrial consumers in the period 2016-2019 years. It was to include the cost of delivery of coal from the hub Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Antwerp for the whole coal. The formula was abolished on 1 July 2019 with the introduction of the electricity market.

The journalist Yury Butusov reported that on August 3, 2020 Specialized anti-corruption Prosecutor’s office stopped the investigation for lack of evidence in the case, namely the examination of the damage.

August 8 was the deadline of the investigation, which lasts 3.5 years, from March 2017. According to the Criminal procedure code, to August 8, 2020 NABOO was obliged to complete the investigation, and SAP – to take the case to court or closed in connection with absence of structure of a crime.

Another lawyer of the defence case “Rotterdam plus” – Natalia Drygval – August 10 said that NABU and SAP, suspending the investigation, “took the time” to get the examination, which would prove the theses of the prosecution. The lawyer insists that the examination was illegal. NABU and SAP can exert pressure on the experts to confirm the loss-making formula “Rotterdam plus,” she suggested.

August 12, the NEB confirmed that the investigation was suspended “for the period of receipt compliance with international demands.” Expert confirmation of the correctness of determining the amount of damages for the entire period of the claims is ongoing, recognized in the anti-corruption Bureau.

In the figures, six people, including the former head of the national Commission Dmitry Vovk, they reported about suspicion in 2019.
