The Chief military Prosecutor’s office stated that investigators had received through official channels from the UN Secretariat a photocopy of the letter of ex-President Viktor Yanukovych addressed to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on March 1, 2014. It asked Yanukovych to use Russian Armed forces on the territory of Ukraine.

This was stated by the Prosecutor of the Chief military Prosecutor’s office of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko.

“Investigators during a business trip in new York through the mission of Ukraine to the United Nations by the request received from the United Nations Secretariat cover letter with a rubber stamp photocopies of the treatment Churkin (the then permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin – ed.) on the recognition of official document letter of Yanukovych to Russian President, as well as a photocopy of the letter of Yanukovych to Putin. This document is attached to materials of criminal production”, – said Kravchenko.

According to him, in General, the prosecution received four letters from the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine on the received data, photocopies of documents. Former permanent representative to the UN Churkin presented them on March 3, 2014. Then they are recognized as official UN documents.

“The first copy that we received from the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Ukraine is the text of the letter from Yanukovich to Putin that the UN Secretariat has written to each member of the UN security Council and permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN,” – said Kravchenko.
