Media: su-25 Pilot was a native of Simferopol

The dead pilot in Syria shot down Russian su-25 was the former Ukrainian military Roman Filippov, originally from Russia-occupied Simferopol. It is reported by “Novaya Gazeta”, citing a source in the Russian defense Ministry.

In Telegram-channel “Observer” published a report that allegedly found in the clothes of a pilot of downed su-25. It contains a petition to award the state award of the soldier of the aviation group of Roman Filippov.

A group of independent investigators Conflict Intelligence Team (CIT) wrote in the Telegram that the attack aircraft with tail number “06 blue” (RF-95486) based in the Crimea at the airport Belbek.

CIT also published photographs of documents and personal weapon that was found on the deceased pilot.

“Judging by the half a shot to the APS (Stechkin automatic pistol.– “GORDON”), we can assume that the pilot shot back and was killed on the ground”, – stated in the message.

February 3 in the village Maasen in the Syrian province of Idlib, the rebels, presumably from a portable anti-aircraft missile complex shot down a Russian su-25. The plane caught fire in air and crashed. The pilot ejected, but was killed upon landing.
