Bill No. 1222-1 “On circulation of weapons” can be adopted in the first reading in September 2020. As reported “Interfax-Ukraine”, about this in the Verkhovna Rada on July 21 said the MP from the “Servants of the people” Irina Vereschuk.

“We [the party] the chat there is a lively debate about what should be the legislative field, how to adjust. The bill […] is already on the way out. If all goes well, in September we will consider it in the hall in the first reading. I know I joined circle of experts, gun owners, and associations. I hope that we will settle the matter in the legislative field already in 2020,” – said the MP.

According to the Deputy, we are not talking about the free circulation of weapons, and the legal regulation of permits to acquire it.

“[The law will regulate] what will be the special permit which will permit the weapon. We are not talking about the free circulation of weapons, we are talking about the regulation – the part that, unfortunately, none holds: verification, online registries, who can issue a permit. We have also prepared a draft law “On territorial defense,” as it is to associate is a complex task, but it needs to be solved, because every year the situation worsens”, – said Vereschuk.

In September of last year the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky said that “the legalization of trafficking in the state arms appear premature, and therefore cannot be supported.”
