Experts analyzed the changes in the total fertility rate.

American scientists have predicted that by year 2064 humanity will reach a maximum number. Study published the Lancet.

By this time the planet will populate 9.7 billion people, reports RIA “Novosti”.

Experts analyzed the changes in total fertility rate, which shows the average number of children per woman. In 1950 it was 4.7, in 2017 was reduced almost twice and amounted to 2.4. This drop in ratio below 2.1 means population decline.

By the end of the XXI century, the researchers predict a decline in population up to 8.8 billion. They predict that in 2100 the total fertility rate will be about 1.7.

Last year the UN published a report which predicted the increase of the Earth’s population to 9.7 billion by 2050. According to the authors of the report, by 2100 the population will be 11 billion.
