Specialists conducted a special study, which found out how beneficial effect on the body walnuts.

American scientists at the University of Pennsylvania found that walnuts contribute to the development of beneficial gut bacteria that is good for the heart, says MedicalXpress.

Experts have observed over the 42 participants in the study who are overweight or obese.

Before the experiment, all subjects adhered to the food with lots of carbohydrates and fats.

After that, participants were divided into three groups. One group was given whole walnuts, the second is alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and polyunsaturated fatty acids without walnuts on the menu, and the third – ALA, which is partially replaced by oleic fatty acid and without walnuts.

This diet the volunteers were followed for six weeks. The results showed that walnuts contributed to the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria. The subjects, in particular, improved blood pressure, decreased blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

In participants who kept diet without walnuts, no relationship between changes in the composition of bacteria and a decrease in cardiac diseases it is not revealed.
