Andriy KOBOLEV admitted that the gas transit contract in the future may engage a new independent separated by the operator.

Ukraine is ready to discuss with Russia’s Gazprom the extension of the contract for gas transit. This February 10, said the head of Naftogaz Andrey Kobelev on air of Ukraine TV channel 24.

“We are ready to discuss a contract extension. We, as an alternative, ready also that this contract will be to discuss the new independent separated by the operator”, − he said.

According to KOBOLEV, to achieve this, Ukraine needs to complete the implementation of the European legislation regulating the Ukrainian gas market.

“Then the conditions for this continuation can be better than those conditions, which are now”, − said the head of Naftogaz.

Earlier it was reported that Russia was ready to extend the contract for gas transit through the territory of Ukraine after 2024.

We will remind, 30 Dec 2019 Russia and Ukraine signed the transit contract for five years. According to dogovorennosty, Gazprom guarantees pumping 65 billion cubic meters of gas in the first year and 40 billion cubic meters in the next four years.

One of the key conditions for continued transit of Russian gas to Europe via Ukraine was the transition of Ukraine to the European rules of the GTS. For this purpose they created a separate company-operator, which began work on 1 January.
