Naftogaz demands $ 7 billion for assets in Crimea
The Ukrainian company will file a new claim for the lost assets in Crimea, which is planning to obtain $ 7 billion compensation.
Naftogaz will file the updated actions against Russia in the Hague court of Arbitration on the Crimean assets,increasing the amount of claims. This was stated by Executive Director of the company Yuriy Vitrenko in an interview Liga.net published Friday, January 10.
“We serve now updated claims against Russia for the loss of the ability to use our property in the Crimea. And there’s a large amount of claims – $5 billion, excluding interest. But with interest it’s been more than $7 billion,” he said
According to him, the decision of the court, which will determine the amount of compensation or “at the end of 2020 or 2021”.
As you know, during the negotiations on gas transit contract, it was agreed to withdraw all litigations on gas, but the question of litigation on assets in Crimea was not raised.
