Lutsenko: I said it is my fundamental solution

On 8 November the General Prosecutor of Ukraine Yury Lutsenko on air of TV channel “1+1” said that the country’s President, Petro Poroshenko, have accepted his decision regarding the resignation.

“I am the President had a sharp conversation, he didn’t take my step. He learned about all of five minutes before my entry into Parliament. However, I said this is my principled decision,” he said.

Lutsenko said that his resignation is on the table at Poroshenko. The President will consider it, as soon as I return from a working visit from abroad.

On 6 November, speaking in Parliament with a report on the investigation into the death of a public figure of Catherine Gandzyuk, Lutsenko said he was ready to retire.

Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy held a rating vote on the question of the resignation of Lutsenko. Voted “for” 38 deputies.

On 7 November he submitted to the presidential Administration a statement.

Under the law, for dismissal at own will the attorney General must apply to the President. Then the Parliament must agree on the resignation, and the head of state signed a decree on dismissal.

Lutsenko was appointed attorney-General on 12 may 2016.
