The decision of the Ministry of justice of Ukraine to cancel the re-registration of the complex of buildings of the Pochayiv monastery in Ternopil region for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church-Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) tells about the beginning of large-scale pressure on the UOC. About this in comments to Agency “Interfax” said Deputy sinodale of the Department for external relations of the Russian Orthodox Church Archpriest Nikolai Balashov.

He reminded that President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said about the voluntary nature of the annexation of parishes to the new Autocephalous Church.

Balashov convinced that monks in the new Church will be “one-two and miscalculated”, and the Pochayiv Lavra are currently more “than the dissenters of all stripes in all of Ukraine.”

In the summer of 2018, the Ministry of culture of Ukraine instructed the state reserve to take the balance of the buildings of the Pochayiv Lavra. In September the documents to the state Registrar appealed and reserve, and Laurel. According to the Deputy Pochaiv city Council of Taras Palyanitsa, while one Registrar considered the case, Laura was registered at the UOC-MP “Registrar General other district, Ternopil region.” Gosregistrator Andrew Yaremko confirmed to TSN that he did it.

The Primate of the UOC-Kyiv Patriarchate Filaret believes that after the granting of autocephaly of the Kyiv-Pechersk and Pochaiv monastery will move from the UOC-MP in the national Church. The Ukrainian Ministry of culture said that the fate of the Kiev-Pechersk and Pochaev Laurel, which are in state ownership, can only be decided by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

On 23 November, the Ministry of justice abolished the re-registration of the Pochayiv monastery to UOC-Moscow Patriarchate.
