Giuliani made some controversial statements on television

The personal lawyer of the President of the United States Donald trump, Rudy Giuliani, in CNN September 19 for the first time acknowledged that he spoke with the official Ukrainian authorities on the need to investigate the activities of former us Vice-President Joe Biden in Ukraine.

Asked the host, Chris Cuomo, did he ask Ukraine to deal with the case of Biden, Giuliani said, “Yes, of course.”

A minute earlier, the lawyer said that asked the then Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko why he dismissed the case against the Center for combating corruption and how it relates to Biden. On the question of whether demanded Giuliani opening the case against Biden, he replied in the negative, moving the topic to the probable intervention of Ukrainians in the United States presidential election of 2016.

Cuomo drew attention to the contradictions in the words of Giuliani. He said he was not asked to conduct a specific investigation against Biden, but I think that the Ukrainian authorities must examine “the charges related to my client [trump], which indirectly appears, Joe Biden, and the scheme of large-scale bribery”.

In June, Giuliani urged President Vladimir Zelensky proceed to the investigation of possible interference of Kiev in the American elections in 2016 and the alleged bribery of Biden the fifth President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

In 2016 Biden senior demanded to dismiss Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin, threatening that the US will provide Ukraine $1 billion loan guarantee. According to Lutsenko, one of the criminal proceedings contained the materials that the members of the Board of Directors of Burisma, which included Biden’s son hunter received $17 million, the origin of which was doubtful.

In may, Lutsenko stressed that his Department has no evidence of wrongdoing by Joe Biden and his son hunter.

September 9, heads of committees of the house of representatives Eliot Engel, Adam Schiff and Elijah Cummings (all – Democratic party) announced the initiation of an investigation into reported attempts to trump, Giuliani and others to put pressure on the government of Ukraine to improve its position on the eve of the presidential campaign in 2020. They note that the administration trump, forcing Kiev “to hold two politically motivated investigation, disguised as anti-corruption activities” and threatened to refuse to Ukraine in military aid.
