The unexpected discovery.

After analyzing the data about the most ancient radiation in the universe, physicists were perplexed and said that the universe can be closed in a loop, writes “Popular mechanics”.

Imagine that you are sent to space travel. You pass by Mars, Neptune, Pluto, pierce the space of the milky way, out beyond the galaxy, then the galactic cluster… What’s next?

It is highly likely that eventually you will return to the source.

In a new article published in the Astronomy journal Nature, a team of researchers came to a very original conclusion. Scientists say that there is a small probability that the universe is closed and represents a sort of loop. The thing is that the team re-analyzed data on space radiation, which is considered the oldest phenomenon throughout the known universe and, perhaps, remembers the Big Bang. And these data revealed a strange anomaly.

An overview of the data of the experiment of the European space Agency revealed significantly more cases of gravitational lensing of the microwave light (which is the cosmic background radiation) than expected. This is especially puzzling, because scientists currently can’t explain exactly how gravity could bend this microwave light.

To account for variance in their calculations, the scientists added A_lens variable in their model of the universe. But the team admits that it is difficult to reconcile with the other known parameters, such as the theory of General relativity of Einstein. And here’s why: according to Live Science, the team the result was a standard deviation of 3.5 Sigma, which is much below the interval of 5 Sigma, which rely on physics to confirm the theory.

Recently, another document came to a similar conclusion, but with even less statistical validity. For example, an article recently posted on the arXiv server by cosmologists at Cambridge University, analyzes a smaller portion of the same data and also led the evidence of the closed system of the universe. However, when the Duo of researchers compared their results with other data sets, they indicated support for a flat, infinite universe. In the result all the more confused.

Confirmation of this theory will create a huge problem for physicists and destroy many of our ideas about the universe. Only time and more research will help us to finally get to the truth and to understand what universe we live in.
