Defence Ministers of NATO countries at a meeting in Brussels on 7 June presented a plan to increase military reserves to protect against the growing naval threat from Russia. About it reports “Voice of America”.
According to the plan, developed by the United States, the Alliance should be 30 land battalions, 30 squadrons of fighters and 30 military vehicles, ready to transfer in continental Europe for 30 days.
The Ministers said they plan to complete the whole logistics training no later than 2020.
“Among the NATO allies have disagreements, but we keep a United front when it comes to the key task – to protect each other”, – told reporters the Secretary-General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg.
The relations of the Kremlin and NATO has become more complicated after Russia’s annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of hostilities in the East of Ukraine.
In June 2017, the head of the NATO military Committee, General Petr Pavel said that Russia is increasing its military potential on almost all fronts, so NATO must be vigilant to prevent the scenario of annexation of Crimea and invasion of Eastern Ukraine.
