The government of Moldova adopted a decision to impose ban on the export of poultry and eggs from Ukraine as a measure to prevent the spread of bird flu. On Monday, February 24, Interfax-Ukraine with reference to the Ministry of economic development, trade and agriculture of Ukraine.

It is noted that the Moldovan authorities took a decision on February 12. The prohibition extends to such products: poultry, processed products (tariff code 0105, 0207) and by-products, meat, edible offal, meat products or any food containing poultry meat (tariff code 0207), eggs (tariff code 0407, 0408).

This ban will be in effect until the world organization for animal health does not recognize the territory of Ukraine is free from bird flu.

It is known that last year Moldova imported more than 18.4 thousand tons of poultry meat and more than 14 thousand tons came from Ukraine.

Recall, 23 January the EU suspended the import of poultry meat from Ukraine from-for the outbreaks of avian influenza in Vinnytsia region. The state foods and consumer service called the EU decision “a stunningly unexpected”.

On February 14 it became known that the EU lifted the ban on supply of poultry from Ukraine. This was announced by Deputy Minister of economic development, trade and agriculture Kachka.

At the same time Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan has restricted the import of poultry meat from Ukraine from-for the outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Vinnytsia region.
