Takht-Ravanchi: the Operation was precise and aimed only at military targets

The permanent representative of Iran to the UN Majid Takht-Ravanchi in his letter to the UN Security Council on 8 January said that Tehran does not seek an escalation or war with the United States “after exercising their right to self-defence”. Fragments of the document made public by Reuters.
According to the diplomat, Iran had made a “balanced and proportionate military retaliation” on the American airbases in Iraq.
He stressed that the operation was precise and aimed only at military targets and therefore not resulted in “collateral damage to civilians and civilian objects in the area”.
Takht-Ravanchi said that Iran is ready to continue to protect its people “in accordance with international law” and the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of their country.
In comments to Russian news Agency TASS the Iranian diplomat said that Tehran was proportional to the murder of General Qassem Soleimani and at the moment they are completed.
He stressed that if the United States will no longer take military action against Iran, Tehran will also not take similar actions.
On the night of 8 January, the Iranian Islamic revolutionary guard Corps reported the attack on the us airbase al Asad in Iraq. The U.S. President warned that if Iran attacks America, the US will strike 52 targets in Iran “from the brand new, beautiful weapons”.
January 8, trump said that the United States will impose new sanctions against Iran. He noted that during the attacks on American bases in Iraq military was not injured.
