The US President Donald trump, who has previously said that the US is not “a target for Russia”, said Russian President Vladimir Putin can be considered personally responsible for Russia’s intervention in the American elections. He said this on Wednesday, July 18, in an interview with CBS.

“Yes, because he (Putin) is the head of the country. It’s the same as I feel responsible for what is happening in this country (USA). So of course, as leader of the country you could consider him responsible (intervention – ed.),” said trump.

He also confirmed that he agreed with the conclusions of American intelligence, investigating Russia’s intervention in elections in 2016, and stressed that during the meeting in Helsinki, Putin pointed to the inadmissibility of such actions.

“I gave him (Putin) to understand that we can’t let that happen, and that’s exactly so,” said trump.

As reported, during a press conference in Helsinki after a personal meeting with Putin, trump did not accuse Russia of meddling in the U.S. presidential election in 2016 and refused to support the conclusions of us intelligence who claim that such interference actually occurred.
