29 Jun 96-m to year of life died Nobel prize in physiology and medicine, Swedish pharmacologist Arvid Carlsson. This was reported on the website of the Gothenburg University.
The Nobel prize he received in 2000 for his groundbreaking research in the field of brain neurotransmitters – the study of the properties of the neurotransmitter dopamine and its effects on patients with Parkinson’s disease.
“He made a great contribution to science, and his work has inspired students and research community in Sweden and in the world”, – said the rector of the University Eva Wiberg.
At the University of Gothenburg Carlsson has taught since 1959.
