The President of Panama declared a state of national holiday in connection with the release of the national team for the 2018 world Cup

Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela announced on 11 October in the country holiday in connection with the withdrawal of the national team in the final round of the world championship of 2018 which will pass in Russia. He said this on his Twitter page.

In the night of Wednesday, the national team of Panama in his field defeated the team of Costa Rica (2:1) after scoring the winning goal in the 88th minute. With this victory, the Panamanians, with 13 points won the third place in the table of the qualifying tournament in a zone Northern and Central America (CONCACAF), which allowed the team to directly reach the final of the 2018 world Cup. “The voice of the people was heard . Celebrate this historic day, Panama. Declare 11 October as national holiday. Thanks to the team, today you made history and fulfilled the dream of more than 4 million Panamanians,” wrote Varela.

“This is a historic day for our country. Tomorrow rest all the workers in both government and the private sector. Canceled classes in public and private schools. Celebrate this day with family,” added the President.

World Cup matches will be held from 14 June to 15 July 2018 in Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Volgograd, Rostov-on-don, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg and Saransk.
