The grounds for detention and the Declaration of suspicion of politics and businessman Mykola Martynenko appeared because of the desire of the leadership of the National anti-corruption Bureau to appear in the proceedings. Commenting on the prospect of future appeal of the verdict in the European court for human rights, Ivan said: “the Problem is that one gets the impression that these bodies (NABS and SAP) understand its fragility. I think that by the time the European court decisions the detectives and prosecutors no longer.”

Martynenko was detained in the evening of 20 April. He announced the suspicion of committing crimes under part 1 of Art. 255 (creating criminal organization), part 5 article 191 (assignment, waste of property or taking to them by abuse of official position) the Criminal code of Ukraine. Former MP suspected of abuse in the execution of the contract of purchase and sale of uranium concentrate to SE “VostGOK” across the Austrian intermediary company Steuermann.

According to Golodnitsky, Martynenko could face up to 12 years of imprisonment.
