Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev on 12 October, has appointed former Governor of the Pskov region Andrey Turchak acting Secretary of the General Council of the party “United Russia”, reports “RIA Novosti”.

Appointment came immediately after the dismissal Turchak from the post of head of the region, as informed the press-service of the Kremlin. He ruled Pskov region since 2009.

“Moskovsky Komsomolets” said that the journalist Oleg Kashin considers Turchak customer of his beating. The alleged reason was the offense Turchak on obscene contemptuous epithet with which Cashin mentioned it in the discussion in LJ.

The Governor stated that his “conscience is absolutely clean.”

Medvedev immediately after the attack on the journalist promised that his promoter “will be punished regardless of his position, his place in the social coordinate system, regardless of its other merits if those are”.

Kashin was severely beaten in Moscow in November 2010. The journalist found fractures of the jaws, fingers, leg and a concussion.

After recovery, the journalist and his family lived in Switzerland. He returned to Russia in June 2015.
