Shadow defence Minister of Canada urged to provide Ukraine with sniper rifles and anti-tank systems
Busan: the Minsk agreement has failed
Canada must immediately begin to put various weapons to Ukraine. Such opinion in interview “to UKRINFORM” expressed the shadow Minister of defense of Canada James Bezan.
“Russia strengthens its positions in Donbas, moving there guns and weapons. The Minsk agreement has failed, the rebels and the Russian military continue to ignore them. So I am in favour of opening for Ukraine of access to the canadian market weapons,” said Bezan.
According to him, before concluding the contracts, the government of Canada should begin deliveries to Ukraine sniper rifles, untertilliach and anti-tank systems.
To gain access to the canadian market weapons, Ukraine should be included in the so-called Automatic control list of countries by firearm (Automatic Firearms Country Control List).
This list identifies the countries in which Canada allows domestic producers to supply weapons. Now it includes 35 countries, including Botswana, Saudi Arabia and Colombia, but there is no Ukraine.
On 3 April the Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak and Minister of national defence of Canada harjit Saja in Ottawa signed an agreement on cooperation in the defense sphere. Poltorak said that such arrangements would improve the support of the Armed forces of Ukraine with modern military equipment and weapons.
On March 26 the Parliament of Canada was amended to a petition that proposes to provide Ukraine with lethal defensive weapons, and calls upon the government of Canada to sign the agreement on defense cooperation with Ukraine and to make it in Automatic control list of countries by firearms.
