Sands of Ukrainian equipment in Crimea: Kiev have to say Yes or no

Peskov said he did not know whether any papers sent through diplomatic channels

The Kremlin urged Ukraine to give a clear answer on the return of Ukrainian military equipment left in Crimea. About this January 23, said the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, reports “RIA Novosti”.

According to him, “may be formal documents, mostly diplomatic notes, different kinds of messages, but in General, of course, the official statement of the head of state it’s hard not to be considered as the official proposal.”

Peskov added that he did not know whether there was “some papers sent through diplomatic channels.” According to the speaker of the Kremlin, “still, Kyiv needs to say Yes or no, wait”.

On 22 January the Minister of foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said that the statement of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin about readiness to return to Ukraine, the part captured in the Crimea military equipment is a provocation connected with the forthcoming elections. The foreign Minister also said that Ukraine has not received an official document from the Russian Federation on the possible transfer of military equipment and weapons.

11 Jan Putin meeting with the heads of Russian media said that Russia is ready to give Ukraine the military ships and aircraft from the Crimea. January 12, Peskov said that this offer is a “gesture of goodwill”.

Former defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov called the Ukrainian ships in Crimea “scrap” and “junk”, which Putin wants to use as an element of his election campaign.

Commander of the naval forces of Ukraine Igor Voronchenko said that almost all equipment left in 2014 Russia occupied Crimea, have been renovated.

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman suggested that Russia, along with military equipment was returned to Ukraine, annexed Crimea.

Only in the Crimea until March 2014 was the 21st ship of the Ukrainian Navy and 50 auxiliary vessels. A few pieces disposed of at the beginning of March 2014, by decision of the Ministry of defense of Ukraine.
