Russia’s Ambassador to the US said that relations between the two countries it is impossible to improve “overnight”

The Russian side expects that when the US government will take a decision on the resumption of Russian-American relations. Onthis January 14, said the Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov comments in the “RIA Novosti”.

Antonov said that recently met with U.S. Ambassador Jon Huntsman, and noted that relations between the two countries it is impossible to improve “overnight”. He called a meeting with the Huntsman constructive.

According to the Russian Ambassador, huntsman will work with the U.S. state Department, White house and Capitol hill over improving the climate between the two countries. Antonov added that the meeting with the American Ambassador, the parties recognized that it would take a lot of effort from both sides before the situation will improve.

He assured that together with the Huntsman reviewed bilateral “concerns” and problems. And at the end of the meeting they outlined the joint steps.

Antonov has entered a post of the Ambassador September 1, 2017. On 8 September he met with the President of the United States Donald trump and handed him his credentials. Antonov said that the President of the United States, it was a friendly.

Huntsman was appointed Ambassador to Russia in October 2017.

Relations between Russia and the United States have deteriorated amid Russian aggression in the Crimea and in the Donbass, accusing Russia of meddling in the American elections and the war in Syria.

For 2014-2015 the US and European countries in several stages introduced personal and sectoral sanctions against Russian citizens and companies. 2 August 2017, the US President, Donald trump has signed a law on new restrictive measures against Russia, North Korea and Iran.
