Unknown stole from the auction house Dorotheum in Vienna painting by French impressionist Pierre Auguste Renoir’s “the Bay, the sea, the green of the rock” (“Golfe, Mer, Falaises Vertes”), reports AP.

The theft was committed on 26 November, but it has become known only after the Austrian police two days later published pictures of the kidnappers and urged the public to assist in apprehending criminals.

It is reported that three men broke into the auction house and took a picture from the wall, which was on display on the second floor. Then the kidnappers disappeared through three different exits from the building.

This picture, painted by Renoir in 1895, had planned to auction on November 28. The stolen canvas is estimated at about 120-160 thousand euros.
